More than
2,000 people flocked to McHenry County College to attend the 9th
Annual Hearthstone Senior Fair! Attendees enjoyed the 97 exhibitors,
bingo, music and food. Many came to listen and dance to the Vito
Buffalo Orchestra while others enjoyed bingo and people watching. The
Borderline Barbershop Quartet strolled throughout the fair entertaining
everyone with their a cappella favorites. Attendees strolled through the
gymnasium gathering senior targeted tips and information from over 100
exhibitors who participated in the expo.
Another
popular area of the fair is the health and wellness booth sponsored by
Mercy Health System. Fair goers had the opportunity to meet local
medical professionals and ask health related questions as well as
receive free blood pressure screenings.
Once
again,
Tarts
and Truffles Cakes and Catering
donated more than 800 lunches for fair guests. Everyone enjoyed the
sloppy joes.
The fair
is hosted each year by Hearthstone Senior Living Community as a
community service and fundraising event. This year’s proceeds will go
toward automated doors at Hearthstone Manor. The costs associated with
the event are covered by sponsorships from Mercy Health System, Advocate
Good Shepherd Hospital, Centegra Health Systems, Home State Bank Senior
Class Club, Hospice of Northeastern Illinois and My Special Assistant.
Media coverage was provided by Chicagoland Senior News 50 and Better,
McHenry County Woman News, Northwest Herald, and the Woodstock
Independent.
