2nd Annual Gala Dinner/Auction A Success!

 

The 2nd Annual Little Hands, Big Dreams Gala, held Saturday, February 11 at Boulder Ridge Country Club, was a success!  Two hundred forty guests attended the event that consisted of dinner, music, entertainment, silent auction, and raffle. All proceeds benefit Woodstock Early Learning Center by providing tuition to families requiring assistance. "Thank You," to our volunteers, staff, Board Members, and guests for making this event a success.

VILLAGE HOSTS “WHEN CLUTTER CONTROLS”

 

Geared toward professionals who work with seniors in retirement communities, assisted living, and healthcare facilities, the seminar focused on this common behavior associated with aging. Guest speaker, Mary Jo Zeller of GeroSolutions, discussed why people hoard, the difference between clutter and hoarding, interventions and what can be done to support families faced with this behavior.

The WCLS Fun Committee recently hosted a soup and chili cook-off. Top prizes were awarded to Rick Madsen (Maintenance) for his Creamy Corn Chowder and to Rivian Gardner (Manor Activities) for her Chili Olé! The second place winners were Gayle Mansfield (Village Activities) for soup and Sandy Sauer (WELC) and Deb Rabine (Marketing) for chili (tied). Congrats to all our participants!

 

 

 

 

WELC CELEBRATES DENTAL WEEK

 

 

Dr. Bob Haraden of Family Dentistry of Woodstock brought puppets to teach the children of WELC the fundamentals of good dental hygiene. The children enjoyed a week of learning about caring for their teeth.

 

 

HEARTHSTONE VILLAGE HOSTS OLYMPICS

Residents of Hearthstone Village recently hosted their own version of the Olympics to get in the mood for those held in Torino, Italy. More than 50 people from Hearthstone Village, Hearthstone Courts, and the community of Woodstock participated in games such as Potato Bowling, Noodle Pool and Bean Bag Toss. After a full day of physical activity, medals were awarded, as follows:

Gold - Jim Handke

Silver - Clarence Magerl

Bronze - George Rowland

 

Many women also participated but were unable to outscore the guys (this time). Next year men and women will compete in separate categories. George Rowland made pins to commemorate the event for all participants. Click here for more pictures...
